As mentioned in a previous blog post, I find it very difficult to put myself in front of the lens, as aposed to in my comfort zone, behind it. But it is so important. So for this shoot I spent considerable time trying to perfect my hair and make-up (something I'm not used to doing, as I'm a hair in a messy bun and no make-up kinda gal usually) and picked out some outfits that worked together. It's very difficult to dress 4 people in coordinating outfits at a moments notice (because of the snow shoot opportunity) - especially when no shops are open! But we managed to get everyone in colours that were also in my poncho! Phew!
It's actually the first time I had worn the poncho, having purchased it at Olympia in 2019 (Thomas &Co. Love that brand!)! But it was great to hide anything I was self conscious about. The boots are (of course!) my favourite grey suede flat regina's from Fairfax and Favor, with the baby pink tassels (waterproofed first of course, don't panic!). These boots are great for making me feel a million dollars, I just love them. So much so I also have the tan heeled regina's and chocolate Amira's!
Sovereign was my surprise foal (that's a whole other story!) and for a rising 3 year old he behaved impeccably. He was very interest in Rolo - although the feeling wasn't mutual, but on the whole stood nicely and for long enough to get a few shots. Better than many adult horses, but then he is a cold blooded cob so its in the breeding. It's hard to believe he started life as a bay with black mane and tail! If only he would stay the beautiful steel dapple grey colour he currently is, but he's going to turn light grey like his mum was and I will have to invest in a lot more shampoo!
